The Beautiful Brown Adventures blog is officially a year old!
We have learned so much over the past year of traveling (during COVID, no less), writing, blogging, website-building, community-strengthening, networking, and marketing. While we still have a ways to go (who wants to help us with SEO, lol), it’s important to reflect on how far we’ve come in the last year.
Recap of BBA’s First Year
- 79 published blog posts
- 7 guest writers (thank you, friends!)
- 5,000 website visits
- 327 Instagram followers
- 1 viral video (with 88k views and 2,500+ likes)
- 273 social media posts
- First sponsored trip by {510}Families/Visit Oakland
- 1 guest post on {510}Families

- Featured by Trail Magik
Not to mention all the wonderful life-lessons we’ve learned and re-learned like:
- Community is everything
- Mamiga dates are essential to our self-care (and working on this blog is part of it!)
- Share authentically and from the heart; we all have unique perspectives that, especially as women-of-color, need to be shared with the world!
- The road to anti-racism and social justice is a journey that we all must walk in all aspects of our lives
- We will never stop learning and growing
- Forging connections builds impact
- We like still photos better than reels
- Haters gonna hate; it’s not our job to change hearts and minds
- Save save save save save your work
Thank you all for being part of our journeys of self-expression, creativity, engagement with community, and so much more of what this blog means to us. Every comment, click, like, share, and guest post makes such a difference and we are grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown to us and to BBA.
We are excited for what’s yet to come. Cheers to the next year of Beautiful Brown Adventures!
As a birthday gift, would you comment below with how our blog has touched you this year, however simply? And also what you’d like to see more of?
Angelica (she/her) is of Cebuano(Pilipinx)-descent and was born and raised in Huchiun Ohlone territory (the East Bay Area--pay your Shuumi Land Tax!), where she also now resides with her partner and their toddler. She loves to spend her time sipping on boba and dirty chai lattes (sometimes together), and eating pescetarian goodies at BIPOC-owned cafes and restaurants.
Puerto Rican & Indigenous mama of two. Bay Area native. Salsa dancer. Backpacker. Doula. Angel (she/her/hers) is a co-founding member of the Beautiful Brown Adventures team. She has traveled to over 30 countries and loves to explore the world with her two daughters & partner - one ice cream shop at a time.
